LastLift vs Hevy (2026): which should you use?
By Jens Skott, Level 3 PT · Updated 3 Jul 2026
Hevy: iPhone, Android, Watch, Web · Generous free tier · $2.99/mo · $23.99/yr
The speed test: open app → set logged
The one thing we measure rather than assert. Scenario: you're repeating last session's bench set — app installed, opening from its start screen, current App Store versions, July 2026. Where Hevy is fast too, we say so.
LastLift 2–3 taps for a repeat set, 3–4 from cold
- Open the app — your most-logged lifts are one tap away
- Tap the lift — last session's weight, reps and RPE are already on screen
- Adjust if needed, tap LOG — saved and cleared for the next set
Hevy Extra navigation before the first set — feed and routine first
- Open the app — it opens into its feed and tab structure
- Navigate to your workout / routine and start it
- Find the exercise, fill weight and reps, tick the set
Tap counts are for the flows described, counted by us; your routine setup and settings change them. Time yourself in both — it's the honest test.

The honest head-to-head
Hevy is the free favourite — over nine million lifters use it — and it earns that with an unusually generous free tier, true cross-platform support (iPhone, Android, Apple Watch, WearOS and web), and a social side where you follow friends, share workouts and copy routines. If any of that list is why you open a training app, Hevy is hard to beat and we won’t pretend otherwise.
The social side is also exactly where the two apps diverge. Hevy is account-based and built around a feed, because sharing is the product. LastLift goes the other way on purpose: no feed, no followers, no account, no servers — just your last numbers and the log button, kept private in your own iCloud. Between sets, one app gives you something to scroll; the other gives you the number to beat and takes your thumb off the screen.
On price they’re closer than they look. Hevy’s Pro is slightly cheaper per year ($23.99 vs $29.99), but LastLift offers what Hevy doesn’t: a $49.99 lifetime unlock, so you can stop renting your gym log altogether. And the platform trade is simple to state honestly: Hevy runs everywhere; LastLift is iPhone-only, with no Watch app yet. If your training life spans devices, that alone may decide it.
Who should pick which
Pick Hevy if…
- You train across iPhone, Android, Watch or the web
- You want a capable tracker for free
- You enjoy a community — following friends and sharing workouts
Pick LastLift if…
- You want the set logged in seconds, with nothing to scroll past
- You don't want your training history on a social platform's servers
- You'd rather pay for a focused tool than be the free tier's growth loop
- You want a lifetime option instead of a forever subscription
Switching?
Moving trackers is easier than it feels — LastLift has no routines to rebuild, so switching is mostly just logging your next session. Our guide to switching workout tracker apps covers keeping your history, and the full seven-app comparison has the wider field.
Frequently asked questions
Is Hevy or LastLift better?
Hevy is better if you want a generous free tier, Android or web support, and a social feed of friends' workouts. LastLift is better if you want the fastest possible logging on a single screen, no account, and your data kept private in your own iCloud. LastLift is iPhone-only.
Is Hevy really free?
Hevy's free tier is genuinely generous — one of the best of the mainstream trackers — but it caps routines and custom exercises before nudging you to Pro ($2.99/month or $23.99/year). LastLift has no free tier: a 14-day trial, then paid, including a $49.99 lifetime option.
Does LastLift have a social feed like Hevy?
No, deliberately. LastLift has no feed, no followers and no sharing — it's a single-screen logger built to get you back to the bar. If community is part of why you train, Hevy does that far better.
Which is more private, Hevy or LastLift?
LastLift. Hevy is account-based and stores your training data on its servers — that's what makes the social features work. LastLift has no account and no server: your workouts sync through your own iCloud and never leave your Apple ID.
Can I use LastLift on Android like Hevy?
No. LastLift is iPhone-only. If you need Android, WearOS or web access, Hevy is the right choice of the two.
